Transition your skin into beautiful spring weather with a few simple tips...
Tip #1- Be consistent. This is my absolute number one tip! A proper skincare routine is paramount to optimal skin health. For better understanding, I like to equate having regular facials to taking care of your home. You may have a daily routine to keep up appearances, but every few weeks you need a deep cleansing to ensure a healthy living environment. The same goes for your skin! I recommend seeing a Skincare Expert every 4-6 weeks.
Tip #2- Exfoliate. A long winter can leave your skin chapped, dry and dull. Try exfoliating 1 to 2 times weekly to remove cellular build-up and restore your glow. Be mindful not to scrub too hard, light circular motions will get the job done. If you have a sensitive or rosacea skin type, you may want to consider using an enzymatic exfoliant (no scrubbing involved) to avoid irritation.
Tip #3- Hydrate and rejuvenate. It is my number one complaint from clients when transitioning from the cold weather, "my skin is so dry"! Try using a hydrating mask containing Hyaluronic Acid 1-2 times a week. Before you go to bed, exfoliate your skin and then apply a hydrating mask for 10-15 minutes (you can even sleep in the mask overnight). When you wake up in the morning your skin will feel rejuvenated, hydrated and will glow for days!
Tip #4- Nourish your skin. It is a known fact that the skin is the largest organ in your body and the last to receive nutrients. Try using a nutrient rich serum, like Eminence Organic Skincare Eight Greens Youth Serum to give your skin a quick boost daily. This not only ensures that your skin is getting the proper nourishment and protection topically, but will decrease breakouts and contribute to a healthy glow into spring.
Tip #5- Kiss chapped lips goodbye! Dry lips are the result of being exposed to cold weather and dry heat. The skin on your lips is very thin and delicate, so it is very important to keep it hydrated and flake-free. To get lips ready for your new spring gloss, try using my homemade lip scrub and follow with a hydrating balm, like Eminence Organic Skincare Citrus Lip Balm. Recipe follows below.
Poppy Stockwell Skincare Kiss & Glow Lip Scrub-
Mix- 1 tsp. course brown sugar, 1/4 tsp. olive oil & 1/4 tsp. honey.
Apply to clean lips and massage for 30 seconds, then let sit for 5-10 minutes, rinse and follow with hydrating balm.
Tip #6- Protect. Hello sunshine! 90% of premature aging comes from sun exposure on unprotected skin. Be sure to wear an SPF of at least 30+ daily (reapply every few hours if you are actively outdoors)!
Happy Spring! xo
